Welcome to my website! My name is Shotaro "Macky" Makisumi, a high-school student and a self-confessed Rubik's Cube addict living in Southern California. I started cubing at the age of 9 and got into speedcubing in the summer of 2002 and had a lot of time to waste on this puzzle. Using the Fridrich method, I achieved my initial goal of averaging under 20 seconds in about one year. Currently my personal best average of 12 solves is just under 13.5 seconds, placing me among the fastest cubers in the world. I hold several world records in official speedcubing tournaments (as well as three Guiness world records, but they're not very important). I also started blindfold cubing in the winter of 2002. For this category my time is about two and a half minutes including memorization, which ranks me among the world's fastest...although I'll comment that most of the fast blindfold cubers are in the US, particularly in the west coast, in Southern California. Well, in about 500 meter radius of California Institute of Technology during day time.
I have included in this site all of my algorithms for the Fridrich method (by far the most popular speedcubing method), descriptions of miscellaneous techniques, a guide for blindfold cubing (which is pretty easy), speedcubing videos, and links to other speedcubing and puzzle pages. A covert mission of this site is to enlighten non-cubers on the sport of speedcubing. Well, that's it for now until I can think of something funny to write about. Feel free to look around, and I'm always open to suggestions and comments!

Yep. That's me on the left. (Picture by Sherry Zheng)
